Pyrite flower agate pendant. The pendant is approximately 2.25" long and 1.5" wide.
The stone is a flower agate with pyrite inclusions. Pyrite is also known as Fool's Gold, and it is found all over the world. The name come from the Greek word "pyr," or fire. Agate is a chalcedony, a micro-crystalline type of quartz formed from tiny creatures called diatoms.
I made the setting in the Tiffany Style, which is a soft-soldering technique with lead-free silver-bearing solder on wire and foil. This method was originally used by stained glass artists. Caring for your Tiffany Style pendant is easy--treat it like any other piece of jewelry, but don't submerge it in water for a long period of time, as water could loosen the setting.
This one comes on an 18" silver-plated chain.
